‘Realtime History’ is a New Media Artwork by Rolf van Gelder.
It’s a work about aging and memories.
Live camera captures are being time lapsed in real-time.
The software selects a pixel at random and replaces it with the current capture pixel at the same location.
So, it constantly mixes the current image with the past images, which generates the feeling of real-time aging.
During the animation, sounds are generated, based on the pixels being updated.
